Tang Frères and Tiny Desk
An update on bones
I took my first solo voyage on the Metro yesterday. I’ve mostly been staying in the area or walking or Lime-ing (citron-vert-ing?) to wherever I need to go and really, I don’t need to leave the area very much. I needed to go to an IKEA in the 13th for an in-draw cutlery tray that only costs 0.99 € and though I’m feeling better I didn’t feel like a 30 minute cycle in the cold. I’d been planning to go to the area for a while because there’s also an asian store that I’d been meaning to visit, Tang Frères, and a quite sizeable carrefour. I picked up our cheap knife and fork and spoon holder and then went over to the store of bones. I’d read online that other than asking your butcher, Tang Frères was the place to go. The one I went to is on Av. de Choisy which runs parallel to Av. d’Italie which is one of the newer branches (though it didn’t feel like it inside), the original is on Place d’Ivry also in the 13th which opened in 1981. Although it’s ‘asian store’ it also sells lots of Western goods alongside various sauces, ferments and so on. I was there for bones. I was looking in the fridges for a while but then went over to the butchers counter where, to my delight, I saw amongst the pigs ears and trotters, beef bones and chicken carcasses at very good prices. I ended up with 3 kilos of each which I think I thought was a good idea at the time, a lot of stock can be made, but the volume is so high it barely fits in the fridge let alone the drawer freezer. That means today I need to get stocking - thankfully I have the time. I’ve purchased an 120 hour course in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) which I’ve thought about for the last 2 years or so when I dreamed of moving to Italy. I don’t know why I wasn’t thinking of it in relation to this move. The job prospects are there, it’s possible to get by on an hourly rate if you teach enough but here in the cities there’s a lot of supply to go with the fair amount of demand. I will have to be good!
That’s all you get today, I took 0 pictures yesterday and ate nothing interesting, my granola and a supermarket sandwich and some leftovers. Boring! I’ll make up for it tomorrow when a person is coming to fit a smart meter and will have to deal with the incessant smell of beef bones simmering away.
à demain !
there’s no picture for the thumbnail so I’ll share currently listening

Ooh, I want to do a TEFL course too! It's a good idea. Let me know how it goes! xxx
